Providing Research, Resources, and Support to Raise Awareness About Chiropractic Stroke Risks
Did you know that a cervical adjustment can tear or crush an artery to your brain, causing a stroke?
The chiropractic industry claims chiropractic-stroke is rare.
"Numerous published scientific and medical studies have shown that the incidence of strokes associated with chiropractic care is estimated at between one and three per million adjustments."
World Chiropractic Alliance
But they also claim adjustments are done frequently.
"The process of chiropractic adjustment is a safe, efficient procedure which is performed nearly one million times every working day in the United States."
International Chiropractors Association
That would mean 1-to-3 people each working day in the United States have a stroke caused by chiropractic, or 260-to-780 people each year, or 2,600-to-7,800 per decade.
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, slurred speech, sudden numbness on one side of the body, vision problems, severe headache. Symptoms may develop immediately or just hours after a chiropractic manipulation. But it could also take DAYS OR WEEKS before symptoms and/or a stroke occur. If you have these symptoms after a chiropractic manipulation, immediately see your medical doctor or go to an emergency room and tell them you received chiropractic care and believe the manipulation caused an artery to tear.
